Black Veil Brides Summon Machine Head’s Robb Flynn on New Single “Revenger” — Listen Now
Black Veil Brides just dropped a collaboration that even the most plugged-in metal obsessives didn’t see coming. “Revenger,” the band’s brand-new single featuring Machine Head’s Robb Flynn, arrives today as the seventh preview from their upcoming seventh studio album, VINDICATE, out May 8 via Spinefarm.
If that many sevens make you think something fateful is afoot, you’re not wrong. “Revenger” is a brooding, big-swinging track that frames vengeance as fantasy and delusion, told from the perspective of a self-styled avenger who has convinced himself that retribution and justice are the same thing. It’s a meaty ethical premise dressed up in theatrical metal clothing — exactly the lane Black Veil Brides have been quietly perfecting for 15 years.
Vocalist Andy Biersack explained the concept and the unlikely-but-actually-very-likely guest spot in his own words: “I have always been interested in the sort of ethical dilemma that we have culturally of cheering for justice. I thought it would be an interesting exercise to write lyrics from the perspective of someone who is trying to seek out the ultimate form of justice. Because I was writing from someone else’s voice, this felt like the kind of song that would be best served by having someone else’s voice on the song. So, we brought in Robb Flynn of Machine Head.”
Biersack also noted that Flynn was one of the first established metal voices to publicly defend Black Veil Brides back when, to put it politely, the rest of the genre was not exactly rolling out the welcome mat. “In the early days when we were getting absolutely shit on by every other metal band, Robb Flynn and Machine Head stood up for us and said positive things about us and has maintained that for years and years. I think it’s one of my favorite songs on the record.”

“Revenger” lands on the heels of a pretty great few weeks for the BVB camp. The band’s VINDICATE track “Woe & Pain” was tapped as the hype music for the Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton match at Wrestlemania 42 — a very on-brand placement for a group that has always understood spectacle as a love language.
VINDICATE will be the band’s Spinefarm debut and arguably their most ambitious record yet, bookended by the organ-driven opener “Invocation To The Muse” and the emotive closer “Eschaton.” Previously released singles “Bleeders,” “Hallelujah,” “Certainty,” and the title track “Vindicate” have already sketched out the shape of the album — theatrical, loud, unafraid to go full widescreen.
The full VINDICATE tracklist:
1. Invocation To The Muse
2. Vindicate
3. Certainty
4. Bleeders
5. Hallelujah

7. Alive
8. Purgatory
9. Revenger
