Skid Row’s Rachel Bolan Unleashes “Anything But You” Video — New Solo Album ‘Gargoyle of the Garden State’ Out June 12
After four decades of holding down the low end and co-writing some of the most iconic anthems in Skid Row’s catalog, Rachel Bolan is stepping out from the shadows — and he’s not tiptoeing. The legendary bassist has just dropped “Anything But You,” the second single and official music video from his forthcoming debut solo album, Gargoyle of the Garden State, out June 12 under the moniker BOLAN.

If the first taste had fans raising an eyebrow, “Anything But You” yanks the whole curtain down. It’s a hook-forward, melodically sharp rock song that splits the difference between New Jersey swagger and Brit-Pop shimmer — proof that Bolan has been quietly cataloging influences his entire career and is finally letting them all loose.
Produced by multi-Grammy winner Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Evanescence, Alice In Chains, and of course Skid Row), Gargoyle of the Garden State started as a casual conversation between friends and snowballed into a full-blown statement record. Bolan plays most of the instruments himself, pulling from a lifetime of Punk Rock, Glam, New Wave, and Brit-Pop obsessions.
“Gargoyle of the Garden State is not a project, it is every bit of my soul,” Bolan says. “Like me, it knows when to be serious and also knows where the party is.”
The guest list reads like a rock-and-roll group text: Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) turns up on “Big Stick,” Nuno Bettencourt lights up “Jet Black Universe,” Danko Jones trades barbs on “At War With Myself,” and Damon Johnson and Steve Conte each take a turn. Skid Row brothers Dave “Snake” Sabo, Scotti Hill, and Rob Hammersmith also show up to remind everyone that family is family. There’s even a curveball cover of Oasis’ “Rock And Roll Star,” reimagined through Bolan’s distinctly Jersey lens.
