England Dan & John Ford Coley Reunite on “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight (50th Anniversary Edition)” — Out May 8

Some songs just refuse to age, and “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight” is proof. On May 8, a reimagined 50th Anniversary Edition of the England Dan & John Ford Coley classic will be released — marking the first time the late “England Dan” Seals and his duo partner John Ford Coley have appeared together on a recording since 1980.

Written by Parker McGee and originally released in 1976 on the Gold-certified album Nights Are Forever, the song hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Easy Listening chart and No. 2 on the Hot 100. Nearly half a century later, Billboard recently placed it among its Top 50 Love Songs of All Time. Not bad for a tune the duo was initially hesitant to record.

The new version arrives with an exclusive music video featuring never-before-seen footage of Seals and Coley together, a fitting tribute to the song that launched their career.

“Some songs seem to take on a life of their own,” Coley says. “The song ‘I’d Really Love to See You Tonight’ seems to be one of those iconic songs. Dan and I have not sung together since 1980, and it’s interesting that the song that appears to have brought us back together was the one that launched our career as a duo. It never occurred to me that this song would still be as big today as it was 50 years ago.”

The 50th Anniversary Edition is the lead track from Dan Seals & Friends: The Last Duet, a duets album pairing Seals’ vocals with a cavalcade of respected musicians, arriving August 28.

Coley, a classically trained pianist, guitarist, producer, and actor, remains a busy touring artist and will appear June 23 at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater with five-time GRAMMY-nominated band Ambrosia.
