Finnish symphonic metallers Amberian Dawn are stepping boldly into a new era, and they’re bringing a whole lot of shimmer (and bite) with them. The band has just shared “The Vision of Dreaming,” the second single from their forthcoming album Temptation’s Gates, due out June 26 via Napalm Records. It’s the group’s first full-length with new lead vocalist Nicole Willerton — and if this track is any indication, the partnership is a stunner.

“The Vision of Dreaming” does exactly what its title promises. The song drifts in on a poignant riff that lodges itself in long-term memory, but don’t mistake the dreamy atmosphere for softness — there’s a metallic edge sharpening every corner. Built on a foundation of carefully selected analog synthesizers and layered with thoughtful arrangements, the track flirts with an ABBA-like elegance (a sound the band knows well after 2022’s Take a Chance – A Metal Tribute to ABBA) while pushing into heavier, more modern territory.

Founder, guitarist, and main composer Tuomas Seppälä originally wrote the song back in 2021, but it only clicked into place once Willerton joined the fold. “It represents the lighter side of the album, but it still has a nice metal bite to it,” Seppälä explains. “There’s a clear touch of ABBA-like atmosphere in the song, yet at the same time, it has a fresh and heavier edge that makes it unmistakably part of our world.”

Willerton, for her part, describes the lyrics as a meditation on connection — the kind that transcends time, distance, and the physical world. “It explores how shared memories, emotions, and dreams keep two people intertwined, even when physically apart,” she says. “In essence, the song describes a powerful bond connecting two people beyond the physical.”

Temptation’s Gates promises ten tracks that swing from seraphic ballads to blast-beat fury, with Willerton even unleashing her first-ever growls on the track “Unchained.” Seppälä has also stepped up as a guitarist this time around, crafting riffs, tracking roughly half of the leads, and handling a full solo himself. Safe to say, the band sounds reborn.
