HYPER GAL Unveil “Mere Wisp” Video as European Tour Launches April 25th
Osaka’s restless minimalist duo HYPER GAL are not wasting a second. Fresh off the April 10th release of their fourth album “Our Hyper” via SKiN GRAFT Records, Kurumi Kadoya and Koharu Ishida have just dropped a brand new music video for album closer “Mere Wisp” — and they’re about to cross oceans to bring it to audiences live, with a European tour kicking off this Saturday, April 25th.

Directed by vocalist Koharu Ishida, the “Mere Wisp” video continues the album’s visual language of obscured identities, featuring the masks created by contemporary artist Akina Tokiyoshi that appear across the “Our Hyper” artwork. It’s a fitting statement from a band whose entire aesthetic pushes back against the performative dualities of social media — the masks aren’t a gimmick, they’re a line drawn in the sand. The track itself was recorded by Ippei Suda at LM studio and mixed and mastered by Taku Unami.
“Our Hyper” marks HYPER GAL’s deepest, hardest turn yet. Songs unfold into surprising shapes, shadowy low-end crushes against Japan’s harsh noise lineage, and Kadoya’s drumming has become even more acrobatic while Ishida’s vocals shift from hypnotic repetition into unexpected pop-tinged melody. Early reviews have been glowing, with LAMBGOAT calling it “arguably the most interesting album I have had the pleasure of hearing in 2026,” POST TRASH praising its “flayed, visceral, and entirely unmasked” pop-mutant impulses, and The WIRE describing its “queasy kind of physicality.”
Now that sound heads to the continent. The Tour of Europe 2026 opens at Luxembourg City’s Out of the Crowd Festival on April 25th before winding through France, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark, including stops at Sonic Lyon, Bongo Joe in Geneva, Magasin 4 in Brussels, Hamburg’s Hafenklang, and Copenhagen’s Colossal Weekend Festival. The run closes on May 9th at Kastanienkeller in Berlin — the very city where HYPER GAL made their European live debut back in October 2024.
