the OWLiNG Premieres “Speaking Stops” Music Video, Announce New EP ‘Intravenous Flow’ Out April 24

Just when you thought Hollywood couldn’t get any heavier, the OWLiNG is back to prove that two people can, in fact, sound like an entire asylum riot set to a riff. The doom/90s alt-metal duo — guitarist/vocalist KaL MichaeL and drummer Art Quanstrom — has premiered the official music video for “Speaking Stops,” a moody, immersive visual that sets the stage for their forthcoming EP, Intravenous Flow, due out April 24, 2026.

Only four months removed from their debut album You don’t bow You will learn, the band isn’t slowing the groove down — they’re deepening it. Intravenous Flow packs two brand-new originals, a stripped-bare acoustic version of the title track, and a cover that will raise more than a few eyebrows at the bar: Ozzy Osbourne’s “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”

A Cinematic Take on Silence

“Speaking Stops” is exactly the kind of song that rewards a proper visual treatment, and the band got one. KaL MichaeL describes the track as a meditation on sudden silence — “the (all too common) story of a seeming beautiful entanglement with another that swiftly ends without a word,” drawing inspiration from the asylum riot scene in the 1926 Japanese film A Page of Madness. Heavy source material for a heavy song. Checks out.

The video is directed by Will De Los Santos, the writer behind the 2002 cult film Spun, whose upcoming feature SPAGHETTI (produced by Chris and Roberta Hanley of American Psycho and Spring Breakers notoriety, directed by Floria Sigismondi) is based on the true story of the $300 million Ed Ruscha art theft he personally helped recover. Yes, really.

“the OWLiNG already has such a distinct sonic identity, so my job was to match that visually,” De Los Santos says. “It’s moody, immersive, and completely in sync with the band’s sound. It feels like one piece.”

Fresh Off SXSW and The Viper Room

The premiere arrives on the heels of a strong SXSW 2026 run, which included a showcase at Hole in the Wall and a festival performance at Hotel Vegas for Fiesta Destructo. Orange Amps officially made their sponsorship of the band permanent during the Austin trip, featuring the OWLiNG in a dedicated Artist Spotlight. The band also played The Viper Room on April 11th, continuing a steady push across L.A. and beyond.

Inside ‘Intravenous Flow’

If the debut album was the duo establishing their thesis — slow, doomy groove dressed in cinematic riffs and ‘90s grit — Intravenous Flow is the emotional gut-punch follow-up. KaL MichaeL calls these songs “the most personal compositions I have released in my three decades of being a music creator,” a statement that becomes especially poignant given one of the tracks is built around the final voicemail from his late father, the beloved singer Charlie Robles.

“The heart wants what the heart wants,” KaL MichaeL says. “But what is the path to knowing what our sincere ‘wants’ are?… a reminder that the path of sincere actions is hard, but very much worth it.”

Drummer Art Quanstrom notes these songs were actually in the works alongside You don’t bow You will learn. “Eventually, they all clicked and it was only natural to get back into the studio.”

About the OWLiNG

Formed in late 2022 by KaL MichaeL in San Francisco and cemented as a duo after relocating to Hollywood with Art Quanstrom behind the kit, the OWLiNG draws from the lineage of Black Sabbath, Faith No More, Melvins, Alice in Chains, and Rage Against the Machine. Translation: riff-forward, atmospheric, and built to rattle the drywall.
