The Kody Norris Show Salutes America250 With High-Energy New Single “Good Ol’ USA”
Rhinestones, fiddles, and a whole lot of red-white-and-blue swagger — The Kody Norris Show is back. The award-winning country and bluegrass outfit has officially dropped their new single “Good Ol’ USA,” the latest taste of their forthcoming Rebel Records album Spirit of America, out June 26.
Timed to the America250 celebration, “Good Ol’ USA” is exactly the kind of high-energy, boot-stomping, flag-waving number you’d expect from a band that has built its reputation on high-octane live shows and traditional bluegrass chops. Co-written by Kody Norris and longtime friend Larry Chunn, the track marks one of Norris’s first dives into co-writing — and the result is, in his own words, “a dandy song.”
“Whenever we start a new album, original material always rises to the top,” Norris shares. “I asked Larry to help create a song with a little bounce that celebrates being proud to call America home. He knew exactly the direction I wanted, and together we paired it with a melody that really captures the American spirit.”
The single premiered exclusively via Center Stage Magazine and follows the band’s earlier release, “Spirit of America,” which unexpectedly became the project’s title track after Bluegrass Today’s John Lawless dubbed it as such. “It’s the perfect title for a project celebrating America250,” says fiddler Mary Rachel Nalley-Norris.
The Kody Norris Show — known for their IBMA and SPBGMA wins, Billboard-charting albums All Suited Up (#7) and Rhinestone Revival (#8), and appearances at the Ryman and the Grand Ole Opry — is already deep into their “Spirit of America” tour. The run spans more than 60 shows across 20 states, with stops at Silver Dollar City’s Bluegrass & BBQ Festival, Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Festival at Bean Blossom, Ravinia Festival, Dollywood’s Harvest Festival, and a first-ever appearance at Colorado’s iconic RockyGrass alongside Punch Brothers, The Del McCoury Band, Tim O’Brien, and Steep Canyon Rangers.
Pre-order Spirit of America ahead of its June 26 release, and stream “Good Ol’ USA” now — it’s the perfect soundtrack for a summer of cookouts, tailgates, and celebrating 250 years of American music.
