Lánre’s “Flyin’” Will Show Us That Nothing Is Bad As It Seems

From touring the tri-state area with an award-winning choir at age 10 to working with multi-platinum producers, Atlanta’s newest singer/songwriter is bringing the Usher and Justin Timberlake era of popstar into the new age of streaming. Born and raised in central New Jersey, Lánre (born Olánrewaju Keyede, December 16, 1992) began his music career by attending a music school whereby he was classically trained in vocal performance. Since then, he continued performing in off-broadway musical productions and local festivals in Atlanta after his family had moved south during his sophomore year of high school in 2008. It was in Atlanta that Lánre discovered his songwriting talent and released a 6-track demo at age 15 under the tutelage of his cousin and mentor, Mike Will Made-it.

Lánre continued writing and performing his songs around Atlanta during and after he graduated college where he discovered his sound: a mix of RnB, Electronic Dance, and Pop. His artistry promotes a sense of nostalgia akin to the era of pre-streaming pop stars like Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Chris Brown, which he frequently lists as major influences on his music and look. This nostalgia is most apparent in his debut single “Ready 4 Luv” – a pop love-letter to another one of his influences, Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”. Currently working on his debut EP (releasing 2020), the buzz for the 27-year-old continues to grow with the release of his newest summer single “Flyin’” ft. The Mance, which is live now. With each release, Lánre goes against the grain of his peers with catchy heartfelt melodies set to a masterful blend of music inspired by those above.

Lánre’s new song “Flyin’” shows off his blunt and raw side while still displaying the vibrant RnB-inspired vocals that listeners around the world have fallen in love with. When asked what motivated him to write the song, he said “Remember how you felt after you finally quit a job you hated or left a toxic relationship that was bringing you down? That ‘I’m free!’ feeling? That inspired me which made this song come into life. I wrote it as a motivation to get myself out of my head and to start appreciating the freedom I had and all the best qualities about myself. I think everyone can relate to that ‘aha!’ moment of figuring out that nothing is really as bad as it seems, and life gets better after shitty situations.”

The song arrives on the heels of Lánre’s debut single “Ready 4 Luv“, which has racked up over 15k streams on Spotify, attaining this milestone within days of its independent release. In addition, it has gained praise from the acclaimed artist platform “Music Crowns” that had one thing to say about the rising artist and his new song: “…this song represents an epiphany moment and we cannot wait to see the next installment in this journey.”  This takeover is not to be missed.
