A Diamond in the Rough

EDIT: Katie’s Bandcamp is now live, and the link is posted below.

Original Post – Feb 11, 2014 @ 8:52 P.M.

Katie Lafond has been actively writing and playing music for the past four years, but she has been singing for as long as her memory serves. The 20-year old from Racine, who is influenced by Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, and Laura Marling, played her first show at a coffee shop on her 16th birthday. I first heard Katie Lafond play when she opened for Ivy League and Knuckle Puck in March 2013. That performance made me a fan, and it left me wanting more. Katie’s voice is mesmerizing, and her acoustic melodies are aesthetically pleasing. She brings these characteristics to the table in her new 5-track EP, cold, which was recorded by Cody Ratley at The Grainery Studio. It is being released digitally via her Bandcamp on Wednesday, February 12, and physically on Friday, February 21. Please be sure to check it out when it is released and support local music.
