AUDIO: Mainland – “Permission Slip”

Welp, this is the song that will be stuck in your head today. Brooklyn indie rockers Mainland have an earworm on their hands with their latest single, “Permission Slip”, which was released last week. With a bright guitar line, tight percussion, and echoing background vocals, this is basically the epitome of indie, and it’s all done incredibly well. Basically, every component of a hit song is present in this track to some capacity. This one deserves multiple spins for sure, and you can get your first listens to “Permission Slip” below:

AUDIO: Mainland – “Beggars”

With dreamy synths and crunchy percussion, New York City’s Mainland have  a new single that blends the best of post punk with dream pop in “Beggars”.  The first release since their “Outcasts” EP, which was released at the beginning of the year, this track is uplifting in every sense of the word. As the song’s cover art would suggest, the New York City subway system was influential to the theme of the track. Frontman Jordan Topf was inspired by his late night train rides to come up with the affirming anthem. While the song’s subject matter is uplifiting, the sound of the track is also enough to bring your spirits up.
