Punk band Ope have had a productive year thus far; this is their fourth EP already and it’s only March. Consisting of two songs and three interludes, the band channel their existential dread from several angles. The first song, the title track, is a cover of The Promise Ring begging Delaware to check their air supply while the second song “Darts” seems to be about how we act like we’re making real change in the world day by day but really everything is meaningless. The fourth track is a post-apocalyptic radio transmission, ending with a commentary on pretentious rock musicians. Ope have established themselves as a certainly strange yet intriguingly eccentric band, and we’re interested to see what they’re working on next.
