Just a week after dropping a recent single, Sensei is back with another drop, “Hiatus”. Complete with jazzy production from Asstronaut, the Milwaukee artist delivers his own unique, sometimes intentionally off-kilter flow to put his spin on the track. The beauty in Sensei’s delivery, however, is that the flow doesn’t stay the same from start to finish, not only in a song, but within the context of a verse as well. While many artists in the Milwaukee hip hop scene look to create similar sounding tracks, Sensei is one of the artists looking to push past that into something more experimental. His latest, “Gotta Blast!” is a prime example of that. With production from SPRME, Sensei approaches the track in his own, unique way, mixing melodic spots with an intentionally off-kilter flow. It’s little tweaks that make Sensei’s sound memorable, and seeing as though he’s been dropping tracks more frequently as of late, we may be getting that sound in the form of a project soon.
