Nora Collins

If the photo above looks like it could be a high school senior photo, that would be more than accurate. This week’s Milwaukee Artist of the Week is Nora Collins; a country singer, songwriter, and senior at Brookfield East High School. At only a young age, Nora has already created a very impressive track record. She’s written and recorded in Nashville, worked with several musicians who tour with major country artists like Keith Urban, and Martina McBride, and had a video featured on CMT. Most recently, she was awarded with the 2012 Rising Star award from WAMI, as well. That’s impressive by any artist’s standards, but amazing for somebody at such a young age.

One listen to Nora Collins, and it’s clear that there is an influence from the stars like Miranda Lambert. Nora has a sound that is ready for mainstream country radio, and her songwriting is definitely ready for the mainstream as well. She’s no stranger to the stage, either; she’s already played Summerfest, shows in Nashville, and the Texaco Country Showdown, amongst many other local gigs. She’s been playing shows since her first album was released in 2009, at the age of 14. It is clear that Nora Collins is an incredible talent, one of many in Milwaukee that have the capability to become a national star.
