Jon Pardi Saddles Up for 10th Anniversary of ‘California Sunrise’ With Expanded Re-Issue Out June 12
Ten years ago, a kid from California strolled into Nashville with a pair of well-worn boots and a stubborn allergy to bro-country, and the result was California Sunrise — the 3x-Platinum, No. 1 album that quietly kicked the door open for a whole neo-traditional movement. Now, Jon Pardi is throwing a proper anniversary bash. California Sunrise (10th Anniversary Edition) lands June 12 via MCA, complete with an expanded tracklist and a limited-edition vinyl pressing built for spinning until the needle gives up.
Released in 2016, California Sunrise was the record that introduced the world to Pardi’s particular brand of honky-tonk swagger — twangy, unbothered, and unafraid to put a boot in the face of whatever was dominating mainstream country radio at the time. The album spawned five Platinum-or-better singles, including the 7x-Platinum “Head Over Boots” and the 6x-Platinum “Dirt On My Boots,” and effectively rewrote the rulebook for a generation of country artists who realized you could, in fact, still sound like country music.
The 10th Anniversary Edition keeps the original 12 songs intact and adds three previously unreleased cuts from the vault: the breezy singalong “Drinkin’ and Dancin’,” the devoted country rocker “If I Had Another Heart,” and the swaying, flirtatious “How Did You Know,” which is streaming right now ahead of the full reissue.
“Ten years ago I made a record that would unknowingly change my life,” Pardi said. “Since then, it’s been one hell of a ride — my family has grown, I’ve seen the world, and I’m out here living my dream. It’s pretty damn cool to see how much people continue to embrace this project even all these years later. Thankful for the last ten and looking forward to the next.”
Pardi isn’t exactly resting on his rhinestones, either. His current single “Boots Off,” from fifth studio album Honkytonk Hollywood, just hit No. 1 on U.K. Country Radio, proving that line-dancing love songs translate across the pond just fine. With 14 RIAA-certified singles, six No. 1s, four Top 5 albums, and 9.3 billion global streams to his name, Pardi continues to do exactly what he’s always done — make country music that actually sounds like country music. His headlining Honkytonk Hollywood Tour 2026 rolls on through the U.S., U.K., and Canada into the fall.
