AUDIO: At The Drive-In – “in•ter a•li•a”

Stop what you’re doing, because At The Drive-In is back with their first album in 17 years. If you think the band has lost a step, though, you’re about to be sorely mistaken. Within seconds of the opening track, “No Wolf Like The Present”, you realize that the power of the band’s sound is still where it once was on 2000’s “Relationship Of Command”. A 17 year gap between albums, two breakups, and a lineup shift did have their effect on the music though, as at times, At The Drive-In sound like two different bands on “in•ter a•li•a”. While the whole album has bright spots of the post-hardcore sound that the band perfected, songs like “Continuum” and “Governed By Contagions” are the most reminiscent of the beloved band that fans had been waiting to hear. In fact, the latter song may be the band’s strongest offering since their breakout track “One Armed Scissor”. Overall, though, the album is stellar from start to finish, and you can check it out below:
